Existing street lighting systems are obsolete
They operate on a fixed schedule: turning on at the same time and running at full power all night, even when the streets are empty. This is inefficient.
When the weather worsens, streetlights should turn on earlier. Late at night, when the streets are empty, they should operate at reduced power. Traditional systems are unable to do this—they cannot optimize energy use and do not report malfunctions. A burned-out lamp is only noticed when someone complains.

iDomus deploys ready-to-use Smart Lighting solutions based on its own WUM Firefly controllers. These are compact devices weighing up to 100 grams that make lighting smart. Each controller is installed on a luminaire and manages its operation.

The WUM Firefly is housed in a sealed enclosure and attaches to the fixture via a ZHAGA connector. The controller is waterproof and weather-resistant with an IP67 rating. It is suitable for urban street lighting, industrial areas, parking lots, and other large spaces.
Integrated GPS
Each WUM Firefly controller is equipped with a precise GPS module. This addresses two needs at once: maintenance becomes faster and the operator obtains an up-to-date and accurate map.

If a streetlight fails, the system detects the fault and automatically generates a work order for the maintenance team with precise coordinates.
Precise map
The operator receives a map of the actual streetlight locations. In cities with outdated systems, accurate layouts are often unavailable — WUM Firefly solves this problem.
LoRa Mesh connection protocol
Within this type of networks, data is transmitted not only from the gateway to devices but also directly between controllers. Each fixture can relay the signal further, creating a resilient and distributed communication chain.
Thanks to this, the system operates reliably even under challenging conditions, such as streets with elevation changes, dense urban areas, or courtyards where standard signals are often lost. If one section becomes unavailable, the remaining controllers continue to communicate, ensuring uninterrupted lighting.
